Ang tinutukoy ko ay ang nag-iisang photo video blogger na si Coy, hindi Bikoy, hindi Billycoy…just Coy. Kasisimula palamang niya sa mundo ng Vlogging, pero hindi sa blogging per se. Ang alam ko nagboblog din siya pero hindi ko na isusulat ang link ng blog na iyon dahil hindi na ito sakop ng aming kontrata. Marami rami na ring blogger ang nag “fefeature” sa kanyang blog dahil nga kakaiba ito gaya nila, Atheista.net, Komikero.com, at Tanggera. Marahil ay pinangakuan din niya sila, katulad ko, ng isang “video feature presentation” para sa mga bloggers na nagfeature sakanya. Siyempre kailangan ko igrab ang lahat ng opportunity para sa exposure ng aking mumunting blog kaya naman galak akong pumayag. Pero sa totoo lang, kafeature feature naman talaga itong si Coy. Pansin ko lang na nagkuquote siya sa mga sinabi sa kanya ng kanyang mga reviewers gaya ng “his video blogs are very amusing and informative …” at “…the toast of the Philippine Blogosphere…” Nagtataka tuloy ako kung ano ang ka quote quote sa pinagsasabi ko dito. I really like shooting videos of other people rather than me. That’s why in my case, I shoot videos of my sketching and watercolouring.

Oh…and I’m on 56k dial-up. Hehehehe!

Same here. I’m on dial-up. It takes forever to view a youtube video and ofcourse it takes forever to upload one. hehehe.

I agree. Filipinos are just too self-conscious. I, for one, “vlog” but I don’t talk in front of the camera. I feel I might get too “image” conscious. HEhe. I’m more comfortable if I speak behind the visuals.

Most of my friends cannot view my vlogs because of their internet connection. Even if they live in Manila, Makati or other cities.

I agree with Robby Villabona. Not all Filipinos get DSL, ya know. Just dial-up, yah.

I think another reason why V-Blogging isn’t that popular in the country is because, well, maybe due to their shyness. X3

I believe the biggest reason you don’t see a lot of Filipinos video blogging is there is a very small fraction who have access to broadband Internet. Video blogging just isn’t practical on a dial-up line.

At end 2006, broadband users were around 360,000 out of 9 million users. In that same period only 8% of households had computers (1.4 million households, or 7 million people).

OTOH, there are close to 40 million cell phone users in the country. I think broadband access here will grow at some point when 3G (or whatever the latest wireless data standard is) reaches the right price point. That’s probably when you’ll see an explosion of video blogs (kasi kumpleto na yung equipment to record, edit, upload, and type text, and browse in one device).
