Preparing for this series has pretty much taken most of my working time the last few days. For those looking for ORAS MO NA!, I truly apologize. I’ve colored all but one page of Part 7, but I’ve decided, upon the suggestion of Ilyn, to just release it this Thursday.
The artwork above is the poster, as well as the cover of the series. It will be serialized in a local magazine (announcement of which is still pending), and like Humanis Rex!, will come out 2 pages a month. Right now I’m considering short story arcs rather than graphic-novel length stories.
Once publishing details are hammered out, I’ll make a more complete announcement, along with what the series is all about. I’ve already had a few inquiries and speculation about what it will be, but whatever that is, I can definitely say it will be fun!

I was just wondering who is the man whose face was covered by the metal tube. Paciano? Or is he Andres? The man wearing the top hat looks like Marcelo H. del Pilar.
Hello Jonathan!
The man with the covered face is Paciano. His face will never be shown in the series. He will either have his back to us, or his face is covered with something. Paciano is notorious for having avoided getting his photo taken (except for one stolen shot and another when he died), so I thought it would be nice to play that up in the series.
The man in the top hat is actually Juan Luna. The young woman is Leonor Rivera, and the older woman is Rizal’s mother.
gerry bat kahawig mo ata dito si rizal?!
he he he
Ner: OO nga e. he.he. Sa totoo lang, ikaw na ang pangatlo na nagsabi sa akin. Di ko sadya. Aayusin ko sa ibang pages.
I WANNA READ THAT AS SOON AS IT’S PUBLISH. XD
Parang na-inspire ako dito ah. Gusto kong gumawa ng “The Further Adventures of Lapu-Lapu”. ;P
Gerry,
Interesting cover. A “Time Machine” between Capiz windows. Rod
Reno. I already have a plot for Kalayaan and Lapu-lapu meeting up. It will be in issue 5 of Kalayaan. May ginawa na rin akong Pin-up ni lapu-lapu. Pencil pa nga lang wala pang ink.
Gerry, you just make simplicity work. :-)
[...] The Marvelous Adventures of the Amazing Dr. Rizal by Gerry Alanguilan. [...]
nice work gerry ! i hope to read this series when it comes out. it’s about time local comics artists pay tribute to the wealth of filipino materials both historical and mythic. i’m also curious if this series will take on the expurgated (i.e. Life and Times of Rizal as taught in P.I. 100 Classes) or the ambeth ocampo (i.e. Rizal Without the Overcoat)or ala d.c. comic’s elseworlds routes. either way i’m sure it will be real cool.
cheers and good luck !!!
Gerry this looks fantastic! :D
ehwhat… show some guts by giving me your real name. If you have a valid point, don’t be ashamed to say it face to face. If you don’t, whatever you say is meaningless.
is it out yet? i saw this on the news before, i’d really like to read it ^^
