The End of Humanis Rex!
Filed Under Humanis Rex!, My Comics | 10 Comments
Humanis Rex! was a proposal I’ve had in mind for many years. It was part of a proposal package I sent to a local newspaper for their Sunday color strips. That didn’t push through for one reason or another, and I proposed it again to another publication, this time a hobby magazine. Unfortunately the magazine went under after a few issues and nothing came of that.
It was a chance encounter during one of the Komikero meetings in January 2005 that got the ball rolling on putting the series to print at last. The first installment came out in April 2005, and now, two years later, the series is finally ending.
I really have to thank the Fudge Magazine people for their support, friendship and yeah, patience. Annie Alejo, who I know way back Pulp Magazine days, Ed Ramos, old classmate of mine from waaay back in college, Anna Gan, who frequently wrote to me with regards to the series. Thanks also to Oliver Kuy, who was president of publisher Sesame Seed when Humanis Rex started coming out, and was instrumental in getting the series on the magazine. And thanks also to the other people who worked behind the scenes who may or may no longer be at the mag at this time.
The END of Humanis Rex! In Fudge Magazine’s June issue!
I spent quite a bit of time to make the last part look really good, so there are some things that have been pre-empted as a result. This week’s installment of ORAS MO NA is now set for tomorrow.

Gerry,
Who owns publication rights? Can you published Humanis Rex on your own? Rod
What can I say? This piece is awesome.
Niluma mo dito si Fernando Amorsolo. Halos ganito kasi
Hello Rod!
My deal with Fudge is for them to publish the compilation afterwards, at no further cost to me. :)
Thanks very much JM! Nakakatuwa naman that you think so. I’m flattened! :D
I really like you did with the colour there, two people in bright red and yellow which stand out, and the rest are desaturated and cool colours. *thumbs up*
I agree. The muted colors almost suggest a european style. Much better suited to the heavy line detail that you are fond of using.
:)
Congrats, Mr. Gerry! I guess you’ll be working on that Jose Rizal comic, right? :D
congratulations on finishing Humanis Rex – i can’t wait to finally read the collection whenever it’s released!

Congratulations Gerry! Now, I’m thinking why not have a compilation? Although the ones that came out in Fudge issues will definitely be collectible.
What’s next? :)
