Tres Komikeros” is a comics podcast website by a group of Cebu based comic book fans (and starting pros) which I listen to while I work. They’re mostly fans of Marvel, DC and independent comic books so if you’re going to listen to them, expect that they review newly released stuff from titles like Superman, X-Men, Batman and so on.

The sound like a bunch of guys who really enjoy reading and talking about comics. They’ve got interesting and varied point of views with regards to the comics they read and it’s a nice thing to have on while you’re working on whatever you’re working on.

I hope they would eventually review a few locally made comic books as well. There’s a lot of interesting new local titles out like TRESE by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo, and Arnold Arre’s MARTIAL LAW BABIES.

KOMIKON is here!

I’ll be attending the 4th Philippine Comics Convention (Komikon) at the UP Bahay ng Alumni on November 22. I’ll be there from 10am to 6pm. I’m not sure if this year they’ll go up to 8pm, but I can stay only up to 6pm. Thanks to the organizers, I’m also a special guest so that means I get a free table. YEAH! Thanks guys. I’ll also be attending a couple of talks in the week prior to the Komikon. I’ll talk more about this a bit later.

I talk a bit about the Komikon in a new video:

And speaking of videos, my entry to the Cream-O Video Contest:

Wasn’t one of the winners when the results were announced. Oh well… at least I had big fun doing it.

Thanks a lot for the plug-love, Gerry! (That sounded wrong) We’re definitely planning to eventually review local titles and (hopefully) interview big local names, yourself definitely on the top of the list.

[...] permalink This has been the biggest week for Tres Komikeros so far. Thanks to everyone who’s been checking us out and consistently leaving comments (No thanks, Santini). We could stop doing the show now and it would be cool coz it’d end on a high note. But we’ll keep doing it anyway coz it’s good fun. And the fake money we get paid for doing the show is awesome. Episode 10 Tres Komikeros But aside from us being really great podcasters, we owe a lot to what Gerry Alanguilan said on his latest blog. I’d also just like to point out that only Alex and I are Cebu-based. EJ is actually in Manila.

    Hi John Amor,
What’s it like living in Cebu, vs Manila? I heard Bacolod City is one of the best cities to live in the Philippines. Imagine, many Americans dream of living in a small island someday. You’re all living the dream.

I actually can’t compare Cebu to Manila coz it’s been ages since I’ve stayed in Manila for an extended period of time. The comic scene isn’t quite as healthy here as it is in Manila though, but we also have our fair share of promising artistic talents.

I’ll try my best to attend the con on the 22nd, coz I’m actually gonna be in Manila that week. Hope to meet Gerry and totally geek out.

    Jim,
Nakabili ako ng DEATHBLOW # 1. Ang kulang na lang # 3 at # 11, para makumpleto ang istorya. Hinahanap ko din yung 300 ni Frank Miller, #2 at # 5 para makumpleto.

  11. Gerry Alanguilan on November 10th, 2008 5:18 pm

Auggie, may 300 #4 ka? Meron akong letter dun! :D

  12. auggie on November 11th, 2008 10:44 pm

    Gerry,

Oo nga nakita ni Ella, at itinuro sa akin. 1998 pa, ten years old na ! LOL ! Kumpleto ka nitong 300 ? how about DEATHBLOW ? pero putol yung CYBERNARY ni Nick Manabat, natapos ba iyun ?

  13. Gerry Alanguilan on November 12th, 2008 12:13 am

Auggie, I think 5 issues ang 300. Yep, meron ako nung individual issues, pati na rin nung hardcover. Gusto ko yung hardcover kasi pinagdikit ang bawat 2 page spread into one page. So ang isang page ay isang mahabang horizontal page. I think it reads better that way. :D Naka 4 issues lang si Nick ng Cybernary.
