This is a book I’ve been reading as research for a project I’ll be starting soon. I got it at a local Booksale for 15 pesos. I got hired for it a couple of months back, but since it won’t be out till next year, I actually haven’t gotten the script yet. In the meantime, I’m doing research. Also, I’m working like mad to finish Elmer #4 before I begin that project, as well as finish off the heavy metal album cover.

I can’t talk more about this project I’m doing research for since they haven’t announced it. But once they do you probably can’t shut me up about it. I’m very excited to be involved in it, specially since I would get to pencil, ink and color the entire thing. This is where all the feedback and critique I’ve gotten about Humanis Rex! and Timawa would pay off. I’ve taken all your feedback to heart and I would sincerely make use of that to better my work.

I had completely recovered from the sickness I had earlier in the month. It was really bad as I really couldn’t stand up for a couple of days and I had a bad stomach for a week. In the past few days it’s Ilyn’s turn to get sick, and being in such close quarters I feel like I’m gonna get sick again. Well I’m really just sick of this. Sick of being sick. I won’t allow it. I was already just hanging around not working for a week I can’t afford to not work now. I’m just going to have to work through this. I’ve done it before.

If I get tired I’ll just read the book.

    Gerry,
While you’re at it, maybe you should also read another H.G. Wells novel – The Time Machine. To get you revved-up and inspired for your other pending project – The Amazing Adventures of Dr. Rizal. Can I safely assume that’s now on hold?

    so secretive naman…

Hello Rod!

I’m assuming that your project involves conflict with aliens.

Lovecraft (cosmic horror) or even Alex Raymond’s Flash Gordon.

If you can find the DVD to the old sci-fi pulp series, Space: Above and Beyond or even the new Battlestar Galactica or Babylon 5 (season 2 and 3), mas okay unless you want a more retro reference for humans vs alien invasion.

    Hey Mike!

What I’ll be doing is directly related to War of the Worlds, more specifically the original book. :)

But yeah, that new Battlestar Galactica is awesome!

    nakaka-excite manghula.

pero sa tingin ko, it might be a marvel classics project na specifically war of the worlds ni h.g. wells. they’ve been publishing classics like the iliad and moby dick. sana tama ako.

may no-prize ba sa makaka-hula? hahaha

Considering how busy you are, this might not be the perfect timing to tell you this – but I really miss your “Creating Comics” articles, Gerry :)

I hope you are doing better, Ger! I didn’t realize your sickness was major and not just your run of the mill flu. We are renovating here so we moved in and out of our condo…. pretty crazy month…..

Thanks pare! Yeah, October has been the craziest of 2008.

War of the Worlds is one of my favorite books! I am so excited you are doing a comic adaptation (presumably). I am a sucker for War of the Worlds adaptations, unfortunately the 1953 and recent movie versions were pretty bad.
