Unintentionally Hysterical Cover

Allright then, be perfectly honest. What do you see when you look at this cover very carefully? This is an actual cover OK? Not a photoshopped thing. It’s real! I was browsing for old DC comics from the 70′s because I was trying to track down comics I loved reading as a kid when I came across this cover. I’ve never seen it before but it made me look at it, and ponder it, and when I realized the image it seemed to convey, my jaw dropped… and I closed it quickly again. Very quickly.
Not only that, what’s that dead guy’s fingers doing right there on the foreground? There’s more, but Manny Villar might get me.
EDIT: Browsing the Internet for info on this, I get the impression that the phallic symbolism in this cover is not exactly “unintentional”.

Dicks all over! :P
Auggie,
If and when they dominate US comics, I think that would already be global domination. Kasi this is where all the illustrators want to be whether they be British (Bolland, Barry Windsor-Smith for example), Spanish (Maroto, Bermejo, Aura-Leon), Italian (Simone Bianchi), Argentine (Carlos Meglia, Ariel Olivetti), Mexican (Humberto Ramos), whatever. The only country that has probably no representative here (not sure) of the Manga style is Japan. But there’s so many Americans (as well as Pinoys) who can do Manga. Actually hindi lang Pilipino ang nagkaroon ng invasion dito. The British, and Spanish comic artist had there own equivalent invasion of American comics. Remember Warren publishing, where half of the artists were Pilipinos and the other half were Spaniards with a few sprinkling of Americans here and there.
Rod
Gerry,
Phallic symbol iyan at mi yagbols pa ! loko din ang gumawa nito ano ? kilala mo ?
Rod,
I don’t know what happened to Jim Warren. But his publications certainly took U.S. comics by storm. Pero tungkol sa iniisip mong World Domination, pangarap lang iyan at imposibling mangyari sa Pinoy. But if World Domination is what you’re looking for in comics, there has already been something like that already in place for a long time now…and they are called Marvel(or Stan Lee) and DC. Mahirap buwagin ang dalawang ito.
Rod
Gerry,
The caption should be “…our Warped Minds worked!…”
Auggie! Bob Oksner yung artist.
Tama ka dyan Eusebio, hehe.

Gerry,
Looks like the 12-foot Superwoman vs the 12-foot phallus. Nice action though.
Rod
Rod,
I think the reason you don’t see many Japanese artists doing American comic books are:
1. They make more money and have better opportunities in Japan
2. The language barrier
3. Their “invasion” is wholesale — not just by artists
mind warp is acceptable just like time warp. it’s a dialogue not a caption.
Actually, it reminds of Noel F. Lim’s THE SEX MEN komix.
