ELMER #4 Update
Filed Under Elmer, Komikero Group, My Art, My Comics | 6 Comments
Completely laid out and hand lettered, Elmer #4, the last issue of my self published series, clocks in (or rather should I say “clucks” in) at 60 story pages. That’s almost three times as many pages as any other Elmer issue. It’s rather strange, you might think. Why not just make it SIX issues instead of 4? That way I can have 6 equally page numbered issues. Fair question. To be honest, I really don’t know. I planned this series as 4 issues, and along the way the story grew on me. It went places I never expected or planned. I modified my plan to have both issues #2 and #3 double sized, but it never really worked out. Now it all falls down to the last issue, taking in all the extra story that developed.
I don’t want to add two more issues because I want to stick with 4 issues, and I want it all over. Not that I’m sick with Elmer, but it’s a story that I just want to fully share at last, as soon as I am able to.

Thanks to Johnny Danganan, Freely Abrigo, and Geoff Borgonia for sending me their chicken drawings. I’ll definitely try to find a spot for these drawings, as well as many others sent to me in the past, for inclusion in the last issue.
It still leaves me with A LOT of pages to draw. As in a lot. With stateside work possibly coming in very soon, I have to finish as much as I can while I still have a bit of time. Even when that work comes in, I’ll still of course continue to work on it. Originally scheduled to be launched at the Manila Comic-con in October, I’m hearing word that the Comic-Con might be moved next year. I’m sure the organizers will have an official word shortly.
The launching of Elmer then falls to November’s KOMIKON at the UP Bahay ng Alumni, where I’ll be a Guest of Honor (thanks Komikon!). That gives me more time to finish Elmer #4′s staggering page count. Before the Manila Comic-con got moved, I was planning something special for the November Komikon. And now it seems I’ll be launching TWO comic books at the Komikon. One is Elmer #4, and the second is “Where Bold Stars Go To Die”, written by me, and illustrated by Arlan Esmeña. More about “Bold Stars” and the artist Arlan at a later post.

Okay yung gawa ni Freely ah. :D So, di pa sure ang MCC sa October? Masyado pa bang hilaw ang event for that month?
Sana kasi, Gerry, di mo nilagyan ng “1 of 4″ para pwede mo extend. :P Pero, wow. 60 pages! Stapled pa rin ba yan? Baka matanggal mga pages pag makapal na masyado.
Actually, ang labas nyan 68 pages lahat lahat, pati cover. Sa tingin ko kaya pa ng staple nyan. Yun ngang mga DC Superheroes ng PSI-COM diba? Pero I’ll talk it over with the printer kung ano ang maganda.
mr. alanguilan,
magkano po ngayon ang cover price?
KC, di ko pa alam sa ngayon ang cover price. Papaquote pa ako.
yey, “where bold stars go to die”! Malapit na!
Gerry, excited na ako sa Elmer#4. :)
To Johnny, Freely and Geoff, those are cool artworks dudes!
Ok, I’m going back under my rock now. :D
