Sometimes when you’re waiting for a bus you find that you have been waiting for a long time. Not a single bus passes by. Lots of buses pass by in the opposite direction though, but none in the direction you’re going. You get frustrated and pissed, thinking it’s a goddamned conspiracy. Then three buses arrive all at the same time, which is great, yeah? But none of them are going in the places you need to go. Times like that I just really just have to laugh it off because it’s just so hysterically ridiculous.

Right now, today, at this very minute, I feel like I want to laugh hysterically. I just suddenly noticed that a lot of the stuff in the house don’t work so well. Practically all the stuff I have here isn’t 100% working order. Well for one, this computer. It’s on the verge of crashing. I hope it doesn’t, I hope I’m able to fix it because really, it’s literally become my lifeline, my source of livelihood. If this goes, well… Ilyn’s monitor on her computer isn’t working so well either. It takes forever and a few bumps to turn the damned thing on.

TV – The thing is almost 20 years old. And it’s still working! Sony makes the best damned TVs eh? I really can’t blame it if it’s not working perfectly OK, but just to point it out… when you open it, the volume defaults to full. So if you’re not prepared with the mute button on the remote, your eardrums are going to hell. That’s if the remote is working of course. Sometimes doesn’t even with new batteries.

CD Player – It skips. Even after I clean it. And no, I play no pirated stuff in it.
DVD Player – It skips. In fairness, I’ve had this thing for 8 years now. And it works great if you don’t play with the controls too much. But yeah, it skips a lot. Started happening only a few months ago.
Electric Fans – One doesn’t want to turn on unless it’s on maximum. The other one has a broken neck.
Digicam – The electronic controls go haywire once in a while.
Stove – Only one of two burners are working.

Not all of the lights in the house work. Boney has a busted tooth. Milky has a busted leg. Eugene is well… dead. And did I mention my phone recently got disconnected? I’ve had it put back right away or else I’m screwed. And yeah, I was supposed to go to Manila today, but right now I literally can’t. Sorry to the Agimat guys, but my situation really can’t be helped. I hope to help you guys at a later date.

Yes, I’m laughing hysterically, but please don’t think I’ve lost my mind. I’m just venting, and now it’s back to work.

    Gerry,
If you have a 20-year old Sony, and working, keep it. Sony was good 20 years ago. Don’t buy another Sony. We bought a Sony TV two years ago, it worked for exactly one year, and at exactly one year when the warranty run out, kaput. It’s terrible now with all the parts made in China and Taiwan and wherever they source it out. Nothing like made in Japan. Samsung makes better TV’s and electronics now than Sony, I think. Digital cameras?…Canon’s the best with Nikon a close second. Used to be the other way around. Also when I buy a camera, I look to see if it’s made in Japan. Pag-China, siguradong palpak. Just my opinion. BTW, guess where Pentax SLR’s are made. Made in the Philippines.

    Rod,

ger, yung optical readers ng cd at dvd players may life expectancy talaga. sad to say no amount of cleaning will make it work like new. as for digital cams, well my nikon dslr is 4 years old now at 60,000 shutter clicks, pwede na rin siguro pagtiyagaan ang brand na nikon. hehe.

    Auggie,
Actually, maganda yung Pentax na SLR. I was tempted to buy it, because it had a really good price when a big camera store here put in on sale. If I remember right it was like $399, vs the Canon’s and Nikon’s similar style at $700=800. Bilis nawala. They still had one that was for display only, I checked it out and it was made in the Philippines, but it really looked good. They have not put it on sale at that price again.

Hindi ako nakapunta sa San Diego. Mahal ang gas, e.

    Rene,

Rod… wow talaga? Bibili pa naman sana ako ng bagong Sony na TV, thinking that it will last as long. My first digicam was a Canon and it took really terrific pictures.

    Rene… I tagged you ha. he.he.

auggie, optical readers you mean? for sure, pwede because there will always be spare parts for those components. however, at the rate those cd/dvd players are improving year by year, mas mabuti pang bumili na lang talaga ng bago. mahirap ding i-align yun sa loob. madali ngang ma mis-align yun pag nasobrahan mo ng linis. and once that happens, dun na nangyayari ang skipping.

oo ger, that was a nice tag. :-)

Man.

My digital cam is messing up too, hirap magswitch from browser to video to picture.

Hehe
