Rudy Florese’s ORAS MO NA! Begins today! Click on the thumbnail row above to start reading.

Part 2 will be uploaded a day early next week, on Wednesday, April 4, 2007. Me and Ilyn will be retreating once again into the mountains for the Holy Week, and won’t be back until Easter. It’s the time of year, which I think we will now be doing regularly, when we make do without TV, radio, music, and anything else powered by electricity. The closest thing to a technological gadget I’ll be bringing will be my camera, which I will use to take pictures and video blogs.

I don’t miss them much at all, actually, but if there’s one thing I miss when we go away is it’s ICE. I never realized how I’ve become addicted to it. It’s such a simple thing, and yet it’s something I find hard to do without, specially on days when it’s really hot. It’s the one thing I always crave for whenever we come back.

Back to Oras Mo Na! which can be translated many ways into English. The most literal is “It’s Your Time!”, but probably the closest in essense is “Your Time Is Up!” Doesn’t carry much weight in English, but in tagalog, it’s pretty kick ass.

I’ve been scanning the covers, recoloring and reformating them into posters, an example of which is the top image. For the pages themselves, it would take far too long for me to fully color them all, but I am doing some quick recoloring, just to make them more presentable online.

Thank you, Gerry! I tought you were bringing it out in one-page installments, but it’s great to see it in it’s original four-page chapters weekly! Parang komiks talaga!

    Gerry,
Thank you for this excellent comics. I am correct in assuming you’re re-doing the colors? Did it originally appear in black and white or color? Rod

Maraming salamat guys! I’m sure matutuwa si Rudy, wherever he is. :)

Rod, yes, I’m recoloring it, pero I’m doing it very quickly. Kapos ako sa oras to really go all out on the colors. I’m just doing some quick recoloring kasi the original coloring was really bad.

    isa lang reaksiyon ko. ASTIG!!!

    Gerry:

Very nice coloring. I have always been a believer of the so-called LESS IS MORE.

Look at the colors of this one. Flat, simple, yet very powerful.
Nowadays that Photoshop can do really fancy stuff, artists tend to OVERDO things, especially in the color department.

They should just learn from this komiks. Simple colors, not even a single gradient in sight, yet monumentally stunning!

The flat color you used here reminds me of the traditional comics ( I mean, in the RAMIR tradition of Graveur Printing), and despite the fancy tools we have these days, this one wins hands down.

Very collectible. I’m going to save every issue.

I have been a Florese fan since way back when, and thank you for showing this to us once more.

Gerry, congrats. Pag natapos ‘to pwede mong ibenta sa komikon in CD-format :-)

Ang galing ng pagka restore mo nito, Gerry. And it’s a very good wat to digitize Mr. Florese’s works in storage for future generations. Mas una ang Exkirmuz sa Oras mo na, di ba? Kasi parang 1984 yata ito tapos yung Exkirmuz, earlier.
