Rudy Florese’s Oras Mo Na!
Filed Under ORAS MO NA!, Philippine Comics | 4 Comments

Rudy Florese’s ORAS MO NA! will begin serialization on this site beginning Thursday, March 29, 2007, four pages a week as it was originally released. “Oras Mo Na!” is one of the few stories that Rudy wrote, drew and lettered for various Philippine publications from the late 70′s to the mid 80′s.
In the US, he is known as the artist of Tarzan and Korak, as well as a handful of mystery/horror stories for DC comics in the 70′s.
Rudy was in many ways a complete storyteller, in the tradition of the few Filipino comics creators who wrote as well as drew their own stories like Francisco V. Coching, Hal Santiago and Larry Alcala. Rudy had many stories to tell, and Oras Mo Na! was created at the height of his storytelling abilities. However, it was also his last.
Bowing to pressure from an influential and popular komiks writer, who felt threatened that writers were losing their jobs to artists, the comics company Rudy worked for began rejecting his scripts. Frustrated that he could no longer tell his own stories, but at the same time needed work to support his family, Rudy once again began illustrating stories by other writers.
Rudy became known locally as a romance/drama artist, but when writing his own stories, it was hard hitting action that was his personal forte. “Oras Mo Na!” is only the first of the several stories by Rudy scheduled to be serialized.
Thank you very much to Jonas Diego, Joel Chua and Budjette Tan for plugging my Komikero store. :)

Ikaw nag-kulay? OK ah. :)
Yep! Pero yung background ay photo ng apoy na filtered sa Photoshop. :)
I like! :D
That is very sad. Knowing how creative people were treated. Their artistic growth forcibly stunted by selfish peers.
Honestly, how many of us would be willing to take on drama and romance projects if we had a choice. :(
