Hello. Thanks very much for the interest in contacting me. Because of the various works that I do, I receive a lot of correspondences with inquiries on a variety of things. I used to be able to answer them all, but it slowly got to the point that it’s difficult for me to respond fully to each and every one. To get what you need, and to make things easy for me, I’ve set up a “frequently asked questions page” that would answer the most common questions. Check it out here.
Interviews for Students
If you are a student looking to interview me for your thesis, school project, etc. Please consult the FAQ as well as this blog entry:
Can I Send You Questions?
Invitations for Seminars/Lectures
Thank you very much for the interest! In the past I have accepted invitations to speak at schools for a variety of reasons. I have recently decided that I’m not really that good at it. I can perhaps admit that creating comic books is what I’m best at, and talking about it in front of people is something I’m terrible at. It’s for this reason that I have to decline any invitation with regards to this. It’s not that I don’t want to share what I know. In fact, it’s the opposite. If people are just willing to read, I have written numerous articles (much more than I can count) on the art of creating comic books on this blog. For a more detailed explanation of why I no longer give talks, click here.
Interviews for Media
As much as I welcome it, at the moment I’m dealing with several deadlines and I would be unable to find the time to go to Manila. And it would also be inconvenient for me to accept the same here in my home. Interviews just takes too much time sometimes, which has resulted in me having problems with work in the past.
Invitations to Conventions
I always welcome invitations to conventions. I consider conventions an essential part of doing my job as a comic book creator and publisher. However, as much as I wish to attend every convention, some events are a little too far away for me, or would be a little too difficult for me to commute to. I’m not a young man anymore, and I have had a few health issues. Sometimes I can afford to go on my own, like I always do for Comic Odyssey, Druid’s Keep, Comic Quest, Komikon and on Cebu in 2010, but that’s not always the case. I would love to accept your invitation, and participate in talks, panels and signings. But if the area is out of my regular stomping grounds, it would be great if I could ask for the means to get there and back, and lodgings if the event is out of town.
Also, please consider that you are not inviting not just one person, but two persons. I’ve decided to no longer travel without my wife, and companionship for me is essential. Offer only if you can accommodate us, but don’t offer and then try to negotiate.
I own Komikero Publishing, a comic book publishing company. However, I only publish comic books that I create. I don’t publish comics created by other people, and my company is not open to submissions of any kind. Please don’t send me manuscripts, proposals, or even story ideas. This is pretty much for your protection as for mine. I don’t want to risk reading a story that may be similar to what I may be writing, and I would not want to be accused of ripping anyone off. Thanks for your understanding.
I do not use cellphones. You can send me email at gerryalanguilan at yahoo dot com.
