This is a reminder for those who may want to join us tomorrow, Sunday, January 27, for our Komikero meeting here in San Pablo. Click here for more info.

Comic Book Creation Workshop!

To those who have been asking me for a school about comics here in the Philippines, the next best thing that you can do is attend a workshop that’s going to be held at the Lopez Museum, a workshop that will be given by Ariel Atienza. The sessions will be on February 2, 9, 16 and 23 from 9am to 12 noon.

A New Philippine Comics Anthology Magazine?

My favorite Pinoy komiks editor, KC Cordero, is planning a comics anthology horror magazine. The planning is in the early stages and he is asking for feedback at this site. Of the many comics projects being “planned” (we all well know that 75% or more of these “planned” comics never see the light of day), I have a bit of confidence that this one will truly come out. One, it has a formidable, as yet unnamed (but it should be obvious) publisher, and two, well, KC Cordero is behind it. nuff said, as far as I’m concerned. If this pushes through, and I have a good feeling it will, I will definitely be a contributor to it.

Go to his site for more info. Leave feedback if you have something you want to suggest. Don’t take the “Heavy Metal Lokal” title of his post seriously, as I’m sure they really have no plans of actually making a local version of Heavy Metal and calling it “Heavy Metal Lokal”. Kevin Eastman need not worry. That’s simply posted there to give his readers an idea of the kind of direction the magazine will be having.

Hataw, Gilbert! HATAW!

Gilbert Monsanto is making 2008 one of the biggest years for Sacred Mountain so far. Go to his blog for the numerous things he’s got coming.

Edgar, On the Other Hand…

Edgar Tadeo, superstar inker, colorist and international curly hair model, seems to be CHICKENING OUT. He’s done something that would most definitely be the back cover for Elmer #4. Thanks Ed!

Learn from the MASTER!

Do you want to learn how to draw from a certified comics master? What better teacher to have than FLORO DERY himself? Floro is known in comics as a long time artist to the Spiderman comic strip, as well as one of the designers of the Transformers animated movie. He has set up a blog where he teaches his philosophy on the art of comics illustration and illustration in general. GO THERE RIGHT NOW.
