Jose Rizal, 1861-1896

Music is “Lupang Sinira” by Pol Galang.

I recorded the music from FM radio, LA 105.9 in 1993 to cassette tape. The early 90′s was truly a great era in original Filipino music when you heard songs like THAT on FM radio, which is virtually unheard of now.

Other terrific songs that hit the airwaves back then included songs by Jess Santiago, Grace Nono, Susan Fernandez Magno, Edru Abraham, Bob Aves, Leowai, Wuds, Joey Ayala, Popong Landero. Gary Granada, Buklod, Salatin, Basta, Bag-Iw, Cholo Paz, Grupong Pendong and many more.

The great bands that we enjoy today also came out during that time, and they created some remarkable music back in the day: Eraserheads, Yano, Rivermaya, The Youth, Color It Red, Tropical Depression, Alamid, Teeth, etc.

I have a couple of cassette tapes of songs recorded from LA 105.9, and I’m hoping I could encode them to CD before those tapes deteriorate.

    whoa! astig yung music kasabay nung visuals. nanindig balahibo ko, just listening to it. first time ko narinig to, tho i used to listen to i think the last few broadcasts ng LA 105.9

    i fully agree with you that the 90′s indeed was a great era in OPM. emphasis on ORIGINAL.
