Komikon 2007
Filed Under Elmer, My Comics, Philippine Comics | 7 Comments
Komikon, the Philippine Comics Convention, is now on it’s third year and will be held this Saturday at the UP Bahay ng Alumni, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City from 10am to 6pm. If you’re unfamiliar with the place, download THIS FILE, and then open it in Google Earth.
One of the biggest draws this year is the attendance of probably the most popular, and probably even the most influential Philippine cartoonist of the last 20 years, Pol Medina, creator of Pugad Baboy.
I can’t wait to see what new comics and what new talent will be discovered this Saturday, and I’m certainly hoping there would be more than one. Last year, Josel Nicolas’ Lost in Salasco made a very good impression on me, as had Bong Leal’s artwork.
As for me, I can definitely say that Elmer #3 is coming out. I got it in just in time at the printers, and like last year, they promise to deliver on the day of the Komikon itself. It should have had more pages, but after reading the story repeatedly, I decided to forgo including the last several pages and move it to issue #4. I promise, #4 won’t take as long to produce as I will continue working on it as my major project for the next few months. It should be out around February or March. I’ll have a completely new comic book out for Komikon 2008.
I’m clueless as to the fate of the Humanis Rex! Compilation. The last time I talked to them, they were still looking for advertisers. I understand that it’s difficult to find advertisers in such a short time, so I’m not really too optimistic about it coming out at Komikon. But I am optimistic that it will come out very soon.
Maybe by Saturday there’s already a new issue of THE BUZZ Magasin, which will include part 3 of Timawa.
Oh yeah, at the Komikon there will be an exhibit of JOHNNY BALBONA original artwork, along with many other artwork from other Mango books, presumably at the Mango Comics booth.
I myself will be selling more of my inked original art from High Roads, Superman: Birthright, X-Force and more. One set of original art will be sold at special Komikon-Only extremely discounted price so everyone has a chance to buy. Unfortunately, as they are already much discounted, I can no longer offer any additional discounts on it.
I will also be bringing along a second set of original art at regular prices, the prices of which can be negotiable.
See you all Saturday!

“Kita-kita na lang sa eyeballs”
Okay itong expression ah! Orig ba ito, Ed? He-he.
Pumunta ako sa iyong link at may bago ka na naman yatang Anne!
Ikaw talaga, ha? Sabagay, with that olive skin and long hair including the plus factor of an exotically handsome face – sino’ng babae ang hindi MARARAHUYO?
Ayusin mo lang ang schedule ng bawa’t isa at baka magkaroon ng conflict, mahirap na. He-he. Sige, magkita-kita tayo diyan sa Komikon na iyan. Eyeball to eyeball.
Yey for Elmer 3! I’ll definitely go to the Komikon 2007 and get a copy.
I miss “Elmer!”
Have a great show, guys! Tell Sandy and his Family “HI” for me too! :)
