Good news regarding those looking for the collected edition of Humanis Rex!, this full color series that came out in FUDGE Magazine from 2005-2007.

Since Humanis Rex! was done in full color, it would be financially difficult for me to have a collection of it printed at the moment. I considered selling it through online print on demand services like Lulu.com, but it would drive the retail price very high, as POD books normally are, exacerbated by additional shipping costs from the US to the Philippines.

But during the talk I had yesterday at UP Diliman, part of the 2nd Philippine International Comics, Cartoons and Animation (PICCA) Festival, I met the owner of a local print on demand service that would make collected editions of Humanis Rex! possible.

It would still be more expensive per copy as compared to having it printed at a regular offset press, but I could at least have as little as ONE copy printed. I plan on having 20 copies printed at first, just to see how it’s received.

I don’t know yet how much a copy of Humanis Rex! collected edition will be, but if I do go in this direction, would anyone be interested in buying a copy?

    Hi Gerry,

As with all of your work, I’m interested in getting a copy of Humanis Rex Collected. I have been lucky to buy and own Elmer Gift Set last time you offered. Please put my name on this list. I just need a quote and lead time and i’ll be ready.I’m also to open to Bank Deposit like the old set up.

    Thanks.

Hmmmmm, yung 12 ni Manix ba ay POD or offset? Yung ganung kakapal na colored @ 500 pesoses ay sulit na para sa akin. Siguro hanggang ganun ang kaya kong iluwal, pero malay natin, I’m sucker for your stuff naman eh.

Hell yeah I’d buy it. Here’s hoping it paves the way for more professional comics…

AJ… 12 was offset. Bear in mind, POD books are specialty items so they’re bound to be more expensive than offset books.

So how does the POD model work here po? When the first 20 copies are sold out, will we be able to order directly from you? Could we make purchases online or can we pay the publisher directly? And can we get those delivered to us or are you planning drop off points, like the local comic book stores? Interesting experiment.

    pareserve ako sir gerry. thanks

When the first 20 are sold out, I’ll have more copies printed. Most likely I’ll sell them directly. I can’t be sure yet how it will go because I’m pretty sure some people will be put off by how expensive it is. But I’ll try to put together a really good package so it will be worth it.

    Dear Mr Alanguilan:

Please add me to your distro. i will buy that. i’m glad you came up with these. I’ve check my storage and surprisingly i have a back copy of Fudge that features Humanis, though few in numbers.

please put on hold your “T” for me. almost there.

Interesting. It got me to research POD over offset printing. Cost is always a consideration but if Humanis Rex was packaged like the Elmer Gift Set last time or better, I’m sure it will be worth it. When the package details like pictures and price comes out, people can decide more clearly. For me, I follow equation below.

    any news on this Gerry??

  18. Gerry Alanguilan on November 1st, 2010 8:56 am

Hello Jerome. I’m still waiting for the quotation. As you know, it’s a pretty long Halloween holiday we have here in the Phils. The guy must not have returned for work yet.

ILL DEFINITELY GET IT!!! Sir Gerry, can I be one of the 20? :D

  20. Gerry Alanguilan on November 2nd, 2010 11:08 pm

Hello Jiggy! The best thing about POD is, everyone gets a copy if they want one. Because I’ll print sa many as those who want it. :)

  22. JB on November 4th, 2010 6:25 pm

    One copy please!

I’ve been trying POD myself for my latest book (http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/pacquiao/13504464), and have been working on Amazon’s Createspace. It’s great for the US market, but not for the Philippines.

Which POD is this? I’m sure a lot of indie publishers/creators are breathing a collective sigh of relief now that it’s finally available locally!

  23. Nixon Na on November 5th, 2010 3:24 pm

Will definitely grab a copy! Been wondering if a collected edition will ever be released.

I’m so excited. Will you be making this available for the Nov 16 Komikon?
