From the Comics Reporter:
“Bill DuBay, the co-creator of The Rook and a longtime key cog at Warren Publishing as an editor and writer, passed away in Portland, Oregon on April 15. He was 62 years old.”
Bill Dubay isn’t Filipino, but he collaborated with a lot of Filipino artists on Warren Publications and other companies.
He wrote VOLTAR for Alfredo Alcala for the Rook Magazine, “A Time for Love Lost”, “The Protectors” and many other stories for Rudy Nebres, “Thriller” with Alex Niño for DC Comics, plus numerous stories with Alex for Warren including “The Seed”, “Once Upon Clarissa” and “In the Beginning!”
Dubay also collaborated with Delando Niño, Abel Laxamana, Vicatan, and ER Cruz.
On a personal note, my favorite Bill Dubay story is “Rebirth!” illustrated be Lee Elias, published in Epic Illustrated #23 from Marvel Comics. It was one of the most frightening things I’ve read as a young child. I still remember it today although I haven’t seen it since the first time I read it.

Gerry,
I was fairly familiar with Bill’s work together with his buddy Budd Lewis,at Warren Publishing. It was during the “Spanish Conquest” and “Filipino Invasion” of Warren Publishing in the 70s.
Rest in Peace Dube, and thanks for the memories!
