As I said in the video, Neil Gaiman is one of the very few writers I would take so much trouble to line up for and meet. I’m really just a huge fan of his work. His Sandman stories have truly touched me emotionally and intellectually, and more importantly, inspired me a lot in my own attempts to write stories.
Sandman was also my deal breaker when it came to relationships. In the old days before I got married, I lent the first volume of Sandman to girls I was interested in. If they returned it to me unread or say they didn’t get it, it was pretty much off. I couldn’t connect intellectually with someone like that.
Ilyn loved Sandman, so there you go. And thank you Neil.

Neverwhere was the first novel I ever read and inspired me to write.
:D

Gerry:
I happened to see the list of winners of the #rd contest by Fully Booked. What puzzles me is:
• There is no FIRST PLACE WINNER for Comics
• No FIRST PLACE WINNER for Short Film
Why is this so?
Isn’t it we’re looking for WHICHEVER is the BEST to get the First place? If the entry that won the SECOND PLACE, isn’t it supposed to be the FIRST because it is the most well done entry?
I’ve never heard of a competition where the first place is left ZIPPO, while there is a second placer.
Please orient me and possibly a lot of people getting perplexed by this. Contests such as this one is a very good vehicle for young artists to be encouraged to do excellent work. If we skip the best entry place, doesn’t this leave some kind of bitter taste in the mouths of these budding artists who spent their precious hours to make their entries?
