Whilce Portacio has a new official site!

I remember Whilce’s first official site, Whilce.com, which was active during the time of Stone. I wonder what happened to it. You could download a Whilce Portacio Stone desktop theme and other cool stuff. Actually, I still have that Stone desktop theme somewhere in my computer.

I remain very proud to have worked with Whilce for many years as his inker. I really believe that Whilce was truly the catalyst that sparked the independent comics movement here in the Philippines in the early 90′s. Whilce stunned young guys like me as not only one of the guys spearheading a revolution in mainstream US comics during that time, he was also a Filipino showing everyone back home that we can be talented enough to work on titles like the X-Men and Punisher. It lit a fire under my ass… and it turned out he lit a fire under the asses of a lot of other aspiring artists.

    I have to admit, si Whilce ang isa sa mga pencillers na “pinaka” nahirapan ako tuwing nagi-ink. Dami ng lines, but enjoy.

    Gerry pupunta sya dito sa sydney mid october..for sure pupunta ako..madali ba syang i approach?? Papirmahan ko yung Stone Comics ko. :)
