Ruel S. De Vera of the Philippine Daily Inquirer picks ELMER as one of the most notable books of 2009. Woo hoo! :) I actually almost missed seeing it. A friend of my dad called him up on Tuesday telling him about the mention in last Monday’s Inquirer. My dad went to Sta. Rita, our local institutional newspaper and magazine store (I say institutional because it’s been there long before I was born) and asked if there were any issues of the PDI from the previous day. Good thing there was!

I’m told that ELMER has started to appear in branches of Powerbooks. It’s about time! If anyone has spotted it anywhere, please leave a comment about what store it is and what branch. It would be much appreciated!

Things are just starting for ELMER though! It’s going to get a foreign translation sometime later this year. Yeah!

    Congratulations Sir Gerry!

Very nice to see ELMER getting the appreciation it is due. Again, congrats and more power to you Sir! Any plans and offer for an ELMER movie soon? Hehe.

I agree with Mr. Nick there, sana nga may reissue din ng Wasted plus new materials…

Wishing you more blessings this 2010…

I always visit Powerbooks in Ayala and Fullybooked at Serendra. I’ll sure to drop a comment if I spotted the Elmer book!

O.T.: Hello. And then saw your photo. Huwat?

Thanks Ax! The You Tube me is my slightly deranged alter ego.

It is indeed a magnum opus.

sir, was just wondering if you’ve tried to get Elmer published in the US (through Vertigo or another major publisher)? I think it has serious potential. I’ve read my copy of the collected edition several times and behind the seemingly ridiculous premise is a very thought-provoking story and a social commentary on the ills of bigotry and discrimination.

Thanks Jeremiah!… I’m working on something in that direction. :)

I’ve been looking for “Elmer” since December…no copies at all in Fully Booked/ a different bookstore at Serendra.

I’ll check the stores mentioned, thanks for the tips! :)
