Auction Update: Apologies to those who we have promised to assist, but the the money is still being transmitted from abroad, and once it arrives, Mr. Hugo Yonzon and I will be meeting to make an accounting of all moneys collected. We should be able to start releasing directly to the intended people hopefully by next week.

On that note, I have decided to no longer sell on Ebay Worldwide. Over the years, Ebay’s policies have increasingly become friendly and overly protective of buyers to the detriment and disadvantage of the sellers.

*Did you know that sellers can no longer leave negative feedback to buyers if they screw you?
*Do you know that buyers can complain if your shipping is too expensive even though it is the courier who sets shipping rates and NOT you?
*Did you know Paypal can withhold payment from you, including shipping money, until you shipped the item to the buyer? Additionally, in the Paypal site, if you have a problem with the transaction, there is a quick option to complain if the buyer’s item has not been received, but there is no quick option to complain if the item has already been shipped and yet your payment is still being kept on hold.

To whom it may concern, this song is for YOU.

Pay Me My Money Down – Bruce Springsteen

I had already decided not to continue selling on Ebay specifically for these, and many more reasons.

But when the need came to sell stuff on Ebay Worldwide to raise funds for the benefit auction, I had no choice. I sold items there until my credit card reached its limit. Right now, I can no longer add items to sell. Which is just as well because I ran head on into those same problems I have listed above.

One particular item has been shipped and received, confirmed by Fedex, but so far, the payment is still on hold.

Ebay insists it’s for the protection of both buyer and seller. Oh yes, I can see how well the buyer is protected. But there is very little protection that I feel as a seller.

It is my frustration with this Ebay experience that has kept me from going back to the Ebay website since the auctions ended. It turns out it’s a mistake, because I have missed several vital messages sent to me there. Apologies to those I haven’t been able to reply to until now.

Rest assured that items that originate from me have already been shipped, and I have already instructed friends from abroad to ship their items as soon as I received the payments. I will make follow ups to them shortly.

    Gerry,
Good for you. I myself have never bought or sold anything on EBay. So I am really unaware of any of those problems you mentioned, still I never liked EBay from the beginning.

I also cancelled my Ebay account. It’s no longer practical since the fees are already exorbitant. At nakakapagod mag-pack at ship. Wala na rin sa Ebay ang dating friendly atmosphere, masyado na kasing commercialized at naging dambuhala na rin kasi.

This is why I only do meet-ups when concerning ebay transactions. If a buyer wants it, then he/she must make time to meet up with me. The buyer can see the item before actually paying for it and I also get the cash at the same time so no hassles. Meet-ups protect the buyer and seller both ways. But yeah..shipping items, using paypal, etc. etc. in ebay benefits the buyer more than the seller. Kinda one sided really. Like what Sir Gerry said.

The thing is Ebay also owns Paypal. They bought this company out, but it is still the best way to pay for transactions in the internet.

The thing is… a buyer can pay me once he won an auction, but at the same time, he can make a setting to hold the money at Paypal until his item is delivered to him. Used to be I used part of that money to ship the item. Now I can’t. Frustrating. So I used my own money to send the item first. His item arrived in a timely fashion, but wouldn’t release the hold on my money for TWO WEEKS. I’ve had to pester and coerce Paypal to look into my case so they can release the money. Right now the money is still pending. Holy shit.

    Gerry,
Holy shit talaga. The longer the mony’s stay in Paypal, the more they’ll be making in interest. Now, if they do this to many thousands others, think how much money they’re making on interest alone on the undispensed money, that’s not theirs, that they put on hold. Wise talaga itong EBay.
