Philippine comics events are coming in fast and furious! While the Jess Noriega exhibit is currently being held from September 19-30 at the Sigwada Gallery, Larry Alcala’s work will also be on display at the Yuchengco Museum from September 24 to October 16:

Cartoonists Edd Aragon and Dengcoy Miel will also have an exhibit at the GSIS Museum in Pasay City from October 2-18. More info here.
“Yaring Pinoy” Exhibit at the SM Fairview (Sept 21-27) and Hypermart, Pasig (Sept 27- October 5) is an exhibition of the art of Filipino comics creators, past and present. Artists include Francisco V. Coching, Nestor Redondo, Larry Alcala, Leinil Francis Yu, Arnold Arre, Gilbert Monsanto, Whilce Portacio, Gerry Alanguilan and many more. More info here.
With the exception of the Jess Noriega exhibit, all these events, including the “First One Hundred Years of Philippine Komiks and Cartoons” book launching, are part of a pre-event series of activities before the First Philippine Cartoons, Comics, and Animation (PICCA) Festival to be held on October 15-18 2009.

Ayos na ayos! My parents are from Fairview (they will love this). I reside at pasig (swak na swak).
This again a great opportunity for the public to know that komiks and Philippine cartoon are here to stay.
Gerry,
Pinoy artists are covering the world and putting the Philipines on the map: comics in the U.S.A., cartoonists from Australia, kudos to my friend multi-awarded Editorial Cartoonist Edd Aragon, and now in Architecture. A Pinoy just snag a Finalist place in the Guggenheim Architectural Competition, check out this link:http://www.guggenheim.org/new-york/education/sackler-center/design-it-shelter/vote-for-shelters/project/214
Mabuhay ang Pinoy.
