Francisco V. Coching’s El Indio is HERE!
Filed Under Filipino Artists, Philippine Comics | 27 Comments

Vibal Foundation sent over advance copies of the Francisco V. Coching’s EL INDIO collection and here I am looking at the end product of a project that began five years ago. I honestly can’t quite believe it.
I’m not sure yet when they will be available at the bookstores, and how much they will retail for, but it will have a launching at the National Museum.
I will make inquiries and I’ll post any further information about the book very soon!

Get a load of that, Mr. Caparas! :P
Woohoo!
AYOS! yan ka gerry yan ang National Artist hehe nobela na guhit pa I can’t wait to have that in may hands hehe meron na akong katha’ tguhit nya na libro :)
Kailan kaya tayo magkakaron ng:
Carlo J. Caparas’
“El Bahala Ka Na”
classic :)
sana Gerry pwede din dumirekta sayo para mag order nito at yung isa pang libro ni Coching.. andito kai mother in law ko sa sydney..sya taga bili ko ng mga komiks sa pinas eh.
Definitely a “must have”…pa reserve po…:D
Gerry,
Harbound ba yan? Can’t tell from the pic.
Eusebio… not hardbound.
Dex, di sya sa akin available ha? All major bookstores daw magiging available, specially Fully Booked and Powerbooks.
Congrats, Gerry! Kudos to Zara too! :D
Sorry Jerome… di kasi ako ang publisher nito so I don’t have any copies except yung personal copy ko. All major bookstores daw dito. If you have a friend in Manila, maybe you could ask them to buy it for you when it becomes available.
Thanks anyway Gerry… Sige baka ganun na nga lang gagawin ko. Sabay ilalabas yung El Indio at yung isang COching book di ba?? paki updae kami kung kailang ang launching. Salamat ulit
Congrats! Sana masundan pa ang restoration ng maraming classics from our masters.
Wish list? Darna by Mars Ravelo and Nestor Redondo and Voltar (from Craf) by Pidong Alcala.
Must Have!!!
ah oki…pa reserve na lang po pirma…hehehe
ha! ha! Nako Dex di ko pwede pirmahan yan.
Erwin, I wish I could talk about it in detail, but yes, there are other restorations going on with a different publisher. It doesn’t involve me except to advice the restorers on the process. I know that Alfredo’s son Christian is putting together the CRAF Voltar compilation. I think he may be translating it into English.
Damn, that looks lovely indeed. Kahit walang trabaho ako, will definitely buy that.
Gerry,
Hurray!!! Bakit dalawa ang kopya mo? From the picture it looks bigger than it actually appeared in Pilipino Komiks. Sana naman, I like it bigger, mas kita ang mga detalya. Sana’y may hardback din, but of course paperback would be more affordable. How’s the printing, paper quality, overall quality? I hope hindi nagtipid sa imprenta. Can’t wait to get it. I already gave my brother money almost 2 years ago when you initially said it was coming out, but never did. Now finally. Thanks for posting, Gerry.
Rod
Rod, yes, it’s actually bigger than the original. The other copy is for Zara, who helped me work on it. :)
The printing is excellent. It’s printed on what looks like Matte paper. Definitely di sila nagtipid.
Great news! Me want too! Thanks for sharing ser!
awesome!!!!
want to attend that launching. and grab a book
may idea ka ba gerry if there are plans for restorations/compilations of different series from 80′s funny komiks? para meron sana para sa kids and kids at heart. :)
Azrael,
If you’re going to be there, post your photos please, ok, and the link. Thanks.
Rod
Can’t wait to get my hands on it! There’s so much great reprints the last couple of years.
at last! sana ilabas na nila sa bookstores. ayus yan! apir! :)
Good job, Gerry. :)
