Awesome! I wish I could say it’s an honor just to be nominated (it is), but man, If I win just one I’d be happy. Thanks for nominating me!
Here’s a few installments of Timawa for those who haven’t seen it all that much. I’ll be posting the cover to the ELMER compilation book soon!

Gerry,
Congratulations on all your nominations. Hope you win all of them.
Glad you posted the last of Timawa, I never got that issue.
BTW, I saw Leinil yesterday at the San Diego Comicon. Click my site above for an update on the event still going on till Sunday.

I’m sure you will win more than one, Gerry. We’re here to support you. Goodluck! :D
Good luck sa atin pre :)
timawa! cheers!
Gerry,
You deserve a GRAND SLAM for your pioneering efforts in advancing the interests of Comics buffs like me.
Rod,
Could you give us a blow-by blow account on what happened in San Diego ? did you meet Director Cameron ? how about Director Jackson ?
Auggie,
Just exactly what I wrote in my blog. Biglaan lang ang punta namin. We were more excited about taking the train trip to San Diego which we’d never done before. We took the morning train and went home by train that same night. To be able to see those directors you really have to plan out your stay, find out schedules, probably stay the course of the ComicCon which is 4 days. Taking the train was more relaxing than driving, of course, when we got there no worries about parking either. The convention was 3 trolley stops away from the train station. To stay even one night in San Diego would have been expensive, hotels were all booked, and even if you’re lucky to find a room I heard they were charging over $150 a night or more. I actually wanted to see Jennifer Connelly, hahaha, alam mo naman ako, I’d rather see beautiful women than old directors, but didn’t know exactly where she was. I heard Johnny Depp and Elizabeth Barkley were there, I did see Mark Hamill, and hey, I met one of your favorite illustrator, Russ Heath.
Rod
Wow! Congrats Sir Gerry! In every way you truly deserve to win… isa po kayo sa mga pioneer para sa akin upang muling makilala ng masa ang komiks… ^_^
Hope you win! But really you are a winner in our hearts… (Ok, tama na… masyado na kong nagiging chessy…)
Rod,
Auggie,
Eto ang litrato niya: http://picasaweb.google.com/rodolfo.samonte/ThePhotographyOfRodolfoSamonte02#5363034311622203762
He actually looks much younger than Tony Zuniga, well that’s because Zuniga is so thin now after a bout with pneumonia. Very nice guy si Heath, we talked a bit about his work, pero wala man lang tao sa table niya, kaya I could not get anybody to take a picture with him. This guy’s a legend, he was drawing way back for EC Comics wasn’t he?
Rod
Wh oh why can i not click on those beautiful gorgeous pages to make them bigger? WHY?? You are just an art tease Gerry! *sniff*
Congrats on the nominations dude!
I really love Russ Heath’s work on all those old war comics from DC.
Thanks P.J.! he.he. I do have some bigger versions of some of these at my Deviantart account:

Rod,
You are right, mas young looking nga ki Zuniga. Lumipat siya sa G.I.COMBAT, DC din and started the series on the HAUNTED TANK. Gumawa din siya noon sa DELL,TALES FROM THE WELLS FARGO, Western, Ganda ! Marami din siyang ginawa sa WARREN.
Auggie, Gerry,
YAAAAAAAAYYYYYY!
my good gosh, damn dude… seriously, can i come over and learn from you? You need a personal cook and cleaner? I’ll bring my own ink and paper! Bloody hell! Lovely lovely work Gerry!
