The Past On My Heels

An old acquaintance of mine got in touch after 15 long years. I remember this particular girl well because I liked her name. Ariadne. I liked it so much that I used it as a character for Dead Heart Stories: The Promise, which was serialized in Karen Kunawicz’s column for The Mirror Magazine in the late 90′s.

Unfortunately, The Promise was never finished although I’d like to think it was a good start. One of the things that derailed it, and kept me from coming back to finish it, was the realization it shared some plot elements with an old movie called “Same Time Next Year” with Alan Alda and later, “Forrest Gump”. I think my story is different enough, specially with the way the story ends, but I still need to get inspired again to come back to it. Maybe one day.

Oh man, I just heard news today that the school I went to in elementary, Canossa College, which is just two blocks away, is closed until July 19 due to AH1N1. It’s a cause for concern, but not really a cause for panic. Evidence has shown that AH1N1 is just like getting a regular flu for a few days. In fact, it’s even milder than your regular flu. But it can get serious when you have pre-existing health problems.

Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security just because AH1N1 doesn’t seem to be having a serious effect, at least the way we had expected a “pandemic” to have. Don’t start to get illusions that AH1N1 is a conspiracy designed to sell a few drugs. This illness is very real, and there is hard scientific evidence to support this fact.

Regardless, don’t get complacent. Although there is no vaccine for this yet, just take ordinary precautions. Don’t openly cough. That’s rude. Use a handkerchief. Wash your hands, specially if you just came from the pisser/shitter and you intend on shaking people’s hands, or put your fingers in your mouth or eyes.

    Ang Bangis namang art nito! Makikibalita lang ako kung mag lalaunch po kayo ng comics before Komikon? When will bold stars or rizal be released? Excited na ako eh. Puro Barry Ween na lang binabasa ko.Magaling pala si Judd Winick?

    heard from somewhere that local doctors are a bit worried about the rampant diagnosing of swine flu in the philippines as the swine flu test kits are hard to come by locally, that there aren’t enough of them for all the cases being reported, and that most of the cases are probably just human influenza misdiagnosed.
