Hello Cathy! Wow, thanks for letting me know! Yes, my cooking videos seem to be the most viewed among my videos. I do get a lot of feedback even from non-Filipinos who were curious to try Filipino food and they liked it! Congrats on the little one! :)

I am very thankful for your video blogging. You have a very engaging style that I never tire of.

I'll tell you how your Vblogging helped me. I am pregnant (dunno if you know). Sometime during my second month, I developed a craving for red food. Lahat basta kulay pula kinain ko (carrot soup, spaghetti, among others). One day I suddenly had a craving for pinoy-style spaghetti. I looked up the recipe online and your video was one of the first results (your MIL's recipe) and ang sarap! I asked someone to cook it for me because I couldn't stand the smell of cooking at that time. So thank you, nakatulong ka!

I can completely relate with not being able to watch or listen to yourself. I can barely stand the way my voice sounds on recordings, never mind actual videos of me.

That being said, great post! I'm I can find a use for this information... :D

Gerry:

I think what doing in your videos are okay. It is harmless to you and to others. In fact, some of them are even entertaining.

What we really want to emphasize here is what many young people are doing these days: post their videos where they are doing things that they WILL SURELY REGRET LATER ON. In short, stop digging your own graves, kids. You may think that what you're showing now in xtube is cool, it might come back to haunt you later on in life.

Another thought on making one's image well-known is that once you put a face to a name, there is no turning back. People will recognize you wherever you go and it is not the most pleasing experience one can have. It will come to a point where you will get tired of the whole rigmarole and troubles won't be too far away. People out there will recognize you even if they only see your image without a name, how much more if you put one with it?

In a way, being known without a name is easier to handle. After seeing your image on huge billboards in cities, when people see you out there they will bother you by saying: "Did we know each other somewhere?" or "Were we classmates in high school", or "Did I know you from somewhere?"

It will be easy enough to say: "I don't think so", and leave. However, with a name attached to one's image, you will always be known all the time, unless of course if you don't show yourself in public for several years, hoping that by then the public has already forgotten you.

In short, fame is heaven, but it is also hell. Strength in character is required to handle such existence. It is not catered for the weak and the meek.

gerry,
