KOMIKON 2007: November 17, 2007

The date for this year’s Komikon, The Philippine’s annual Comics Convention, now on it’s 3rd year, is finally set for November 17 at UP Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman, Quezon City.

I will be launching three titles at the event: The Humanis Rex! Collected Edition, Elmer #3, and the collected edition of Francisco V. Coching’s EL INDIO.

Humanis Rex! of course, will be published by Sesame Seed Creatives, Inc., publisher of FUDGE Magazine where the series ran for 2 years. The compilation will have added pages to smooth out storytelling, a new cover, a bit of commentary in a 60-page package.

ELMER #3 is still scheduled to be released by October, but the formal launching will be at the Komikon. In this issue, Elmer Gallo’s story continues. Helen recollects. Joseph’s fateful decision. A cockfight to the death. Plus more reader submitted art, and a back cover by Lesley Lim.

I may have found a publisher for EL INDIO, which is great news. Digital restoring of each page continues and as of this writing, we are already 70% finished. 24 hours per week is exclusively set aside for the restoration of the artwork, with more hours added in the coming months just to meet the deadline.

I have to say the latter half of 2007 is a very exciting time for me, and I’m excited at the things my friends in the industry will be coming out with.

In addition to this, I’ll be be teaching soon at The College of St. Benilde for a newly established course. It’s not exactly the first time I’m teaching, but this is the first time I’ll be doing it on a regular basis. It will be for only one day a week. I’m just trying it out, with no guarantees I’ll be back for another term. If I like it, and if I can manage it, I’ll probably continue.

    Gerry,
    Any idea what the prices for Humanis Rex and El Indio will be? Those two I definitely will be buying and of course I need to complete Elmer. I bought the two Elmer’s I have at a store here in Pasadena, I think Comic Connection. Will Humanis Rex and El Indio be available there too?

    Rod, no retail price yet on any of these. Even ELMER, which will have a higher retail price because of it’s doubled size. I’ll try to make it available in Pasadena as well. :)

    Sir Gerry, un Elmer 1 & 2 ko wala pang sign mo. Humanis Rex…dami gatos sa Komikon!

    Wala na ba tlgang pag-asang makakuha ulit ng WASTED. Nagtitiyaga nalang akong basahin ang onlive version. (so…sad). Sana meron din. (pwede pahingi kopya ng Wasted?)

    Wow! 3 titles sa isang buwan ng nobyembre.. So, sa Nov na pala ng Komikon.. sayang na urong akala ko kse OCt.. aabot sana sa pag bisita ng mother in law ko dito. any chance makarating sa sydney, australia??

    Myke, sa Humanis Rex, makakapagbigay ako ng estimate. Malamang nasa P150 ang isang kopya. Full color at standard sized. Gusto sana malaki, kasing laki ng Fudge, pero in the interest of bringing down the price din.

    Sa EL INDIO wala pa akong idea. Nasa 180 pages yan kaya mahirap makapagbigay ng estimate kung ako lang. Sa tingin ko hindi na yan bababa ng P150.

    Ahhh! I’ll be flying to the Philippines on the 17th and arriving on the night of the 18th!

    Looks like I’ll have to miss this event…I was looking forward to being there!

    Well…I’ll still be doing a store signing for Sandy sometime when visiting!

    looking forward buying a humanis rex soon. for me and my nephew. great gifts comes in small packages, i’d prefer it small to come as handy. pag na-hunting kita pa-sign ako.
