The first batch of Elmer Gift Sets will be delivered today. Yes, we’d rather prefer to hand these sets directly to those who bought them rather then send them via courier. We don’t want to take the chance that it they will be lost, and that I feel it’s much better to meet with those who will receive them.

I haven’t personalized any of the sets yet because I want to make sure that they will be there to receive it. There is the possibility that one or two might back out, and I would have a tough time selling it to someone else if I had already personalized it to other people.

So to those who had confirmed, see you all later at our secret undisclosed location at our secret undisclosed time.

We’ll be preparing the second batch soon. We have decided to put together no more than TWENTY sets together, and no more beyond that. There is still a chance that you can get a copy for yourself because a few people have have decided to relinquish their reservations.

Ilyn and I have decided to price each set at P2,500 pesos. Yes, it is expensive, but we believe it’s only commensurate to the unique nature of these sets.

To review, each set contains the following:

*A hardcover hand bound collection of ELMER #1-4, bound in a manner resembling Elmer Gallo’s Diary. Due to the availability of paper used, not all bound books are alike in color and texture. These are not new printings. We used the 1st print copies of individual issues of Elmer #1-#4.

*5.5″x8.5″ Original illustration in pen and ink. No two illustrations are alike.

*Facsimile of a page from Elmer Gallo’s original diary.

*Facsimile of a clipping of Elmer Gallo’s “Chicken Scratchings” newspaper column.

*Five 4″x6″ Gallo family photographs

*CD containing “Chicken Joy: Documentary of Elmer and Its Creator” video documentary created by Edgar Tadeo.

*Certificate of Authenticity signed by Ilyn and myself.

*A hand crafted two level nested box that puts everything together in one neat package. As pictures indicate, not all boxes will look alike in color and texture due also to the availability of paper.

*Plus a bonus complete set of Seven San Pablo City postcards published by Komikero Publishing in 2004. Not related to Elmer, but what the heck.

Oh yeah, each book contains a blank page specifically for personalization. I can write anything there that you would like. I can even sketch something. Each book HAS to be personalized to you or to someone you will give it too. We will not be selling any set that will not be personalized to a particular individual.

It is still possible to get a set. If you’re still interested and agree to the terms, please send an email to gerryalanguilan at yahoo dot com and I will put you on the list.

To all those who have already sent in their requests, thanks very much for the support!

Thank you very much for the set Sir Gerry! Thanks also for the personalization, sign, and sketch in the book! Now I feel very lucky to be one of those first 10 people. ^__^

Great choice to have them in different colors actually. Also nice decision to have an original chicken sketch (no two sketches are alike). The box looks superb! Very well made and very original. The set looks very very great in person. Definitely worth having! ^__^

    Gerry,
The whole package is beautiful. Excellent job. I’d like a similar packaging for Coching’s El Indio whenever it does come out. I heard a new book on Coching is coming out. Have you contacted the publishers to see if they might want to publish El Indio together with the new book? The authors from the original Coching book “Komiks: Katha’t Guhit ni Francisco V. Coching” will be involved in the new book: Patrick Flores, Alice Guillermo, etal. I’m sure the Coching Estate is aware of this, or am I jumping the gun?

    Gerry:

    Wonderful work by Ilyn.

It reminds me of Nick Bantoc’s GRIFFIN AND SABINE trilogy box set. Though that one was amazingly different because in some pages, the letters wrote by the the two leading characters to each other were true letters placed in folders attached to the pages! All done in the printing press.

And this is where Ilyn’s work differ. It’s HANDCRAFTED and truly special. It’s defintely a collector’s item.

By the way, Griffin and Sabine trilogy box set was priced $150.00. I hope this gives Ilyn an idea how much she should price this extremely creative handcrafted work of hers.

    Rating: 100%/100%

    Hello Gerry,
This is Francis Lim from Butuan. I saw the set for sale at 2,500. Looks very good. Although, malulugi ka ata kung i-hand deliver mo sa akin. I’ll be flying to Manila sometime in Sept. pa. So, in case there is still a set left, I’ll be happy to pick one up…Thanks very much.

It is such a great set!!! Gerry and Ilyn did a very good job!!! The value of the limited set is more than price. Thank you Gerry and Ilyn for making a drive to put collectivity on Pinoy artworks. I firmly believe that we can create our own market like when pinoy comics was a national pastime during the 70′s and 80′s. It died down because the material was treated cheap and low quality. But now with you guys spearheading the pack hopefully the younger guys (like me) will support and eventually buy Pinoy owned comics with a REAL Pinoy art and story feel. I hope someday our stories and artwork will influence the foreign market like what the Japanese did with their Manga style. The Philippines is very rich in cultural stories and deep in ancestral Mysticsm that can be actually looked into and developed into original ideas. (Like Budgette and Kajo’s Trese and of course Elmer) Stories that are Pinoy at heart. Hope to see more!!!
    Mabuhay kayo!!!
