It’s shaping up to be a better day today. I made a video blog which is still uploading at You Tube, gave the dogs a bath, and I’m just getting ready to go to the market to buy some chicken. For the first time in a looong time, I’m not the one who’s gonna cook. So I can sit back, relax…. and do a lot of work.

What have I been up to? I find it hysterical that I get questions like that at You Tube. “Hey, Komikero, what have you been up to?” And yet I have video after video showing exactly just that. I went to Los Baños for a talk, went to Manila for a tour, we had a Komikero meeting last Sunday, and so forth. For some reason, they want me to tell them personally what I’ve been up to. Any wisecrackers who asks in the comments section below what I’ve been up to would be taken off my Valentine’s card list!

Of course, you can just add me at Twitter (twitter.com/komikero) because I post there a lot. Minute updates all throughout the day.

Work-wise, I’ve finished the “LAST HOPE” story that I did for HOPE: HERO INITIATIVE. Right now I’m working on another 8 pager, written by John Schlim Jr., for another anthology, this time for Image Comics. I have a March deadline on this one, so I gotta haul ass. It’s a Western-themed anthology which includes creators that are actually quite big in the business. Can’t say who they are yet, or what the title of this anthology is, but I will very soon.

Just so you guys know, I’m selling the WEIRD HEROES original art over at Deviant Art. There’s no secret project connected to that. I was just really tripping, and seeing if anyone would be interested in buying the art. Click here. I just might do a couple more of those because they’re just so fun to do.

Another thing I’ve been up to: I’ve been trying to make a nice cup of hot chocolate from scratch. I have a few cacao plants and they’ve just given me a few cacao fruits. I’ve harvested the seeds, cleaned them up, and they’re now drying under the sun on our roof. I think by the end of the day they’ll be ready for roasting! I’m taking photos of that and of course, me being me, I’ll make a video out of that.

And speaking of video…

I was at Leinil Yu’s place yesterday. He just got home from New York and Whilce and Jo had a huge-ass Star Trek poster for me. Thanks guys! Well, Leinil had this really cool video cam mounted on a steadycam-style contraption. And of course, me being me, we decided to shoot a video! That camera is awesome! You can see my warts and blackheads and everything!

Later, I was looking at the Secret Invasion TBP and I was saying all this really critical stuff about Steve McNiven and Frank Cho’s artwork in the back… and Leinil was shooting it! He says he’ll upload it at You Tube. I said, go ahead! he.he. Let’s see if has the guts to post it… and lets see if I still have guts after Steve and Frank are done with me. he.he.

I’m not a big fan of Supe’s but I find the story of the young lad asking dad for money to buy a comic thing to be cute. And I have to say..during these rough times with the economy and such, one should be practical and opt not to spend way too much for such a thing. Only die-hard collectors with deep pockets or people with swimming pools inside their bathrooms can afford such luxury (you get what I mean). I’d rather start a small business with that kind of money or find some people willing to start-up a “Hero-Initiative-like” organization here in the Phils. because we definitely need it. Anyway..good luck with your current anthology project Boss Gerry!

Supposedly Superman fans Jerry Seinfeld, Shaquille O’Neal (has a Superman tattoo) and Nicholas Cage, (who named his son Kal-El) are some of the people who might be interested. That’s just pocket money for them.

Another huge fan of comics who definitely can afford to buy this is Jonathan Ross. He was they guy who did the In Search of Steve Ditko documentary for the BBC. And he’s also a big fan of the Filipino masters like Redondo and Alcala.

Last I heard the auction, on it’s first day alone, is already up to 200,000 US dollars.
