Yesterday, February 21, 2009, I went on a walking tour of Manila with Jonas Diego, Johnny Danganan and my brother Noel.

Our itinerary included Quiapo, Escolta, Binondo and Recto. With bits of Morayta and Legarda thrown in. We cheated a bit by riding a jeep from Abad Santos to Avenida, but by this time we were really tired. We took a lot of photos!

A video with lots more photos and scenes is of course, forthcoming!

    Gerry,
Perfect, just the pictures I want to see, pictures of Manila. Did you take photos of good old UST, my alma mater, also Espana? You were so close if you were on P.Noval. What’s your camera BTW? It’s so sharp.

Hello Rod! I didn’t take pictures at UST anymore. Our concentration was really the Binondo area. I was in UST to visit my brother who lives beside it. I’m using a Canon IXUS Digicam.

Anyway, I already have a couple of relatively recent videos at UST… I’m sure you’ve seen it. :)

    Wow…

That is the very church in the rotunda which I run past every day for more than half of my years alive on this planet… I miss it very much! -__-

I remember running from Lavesares area to my friend in Ongpin to ask him about superhero ideas ( I never had celphone before my last year in college and this friend of mine was, at that time, my ONLY source of superhero knowledge… he is the reason I got into comics XD ) and if I came up with something original or it’s been done.. lol those were the days…. And my other friend in Divisoria who I always drool with his comic collection… ( I can only afford one comic book every month back then XD… ) sigh… I really miss Binondo… next time I visit I will definitely swing by again….

And Gerry, san yung water side na yun? City Hall area? Gawd it’s WAAAAY cleaner than last time I saw it! >< No ill thoughts… but just really surprised… in a good way! : )

Man I would love to see that branch of CATS comics and collectibles in Binondo back then… see what it turned into now?.. Maybe it’s a store selling onions by the bulk now? Hehe…

Anyway… good stuff kuya Gerry! Now.. when you be having plans to visit San Diego Comicon again? : )

Philip! That shot beside Pasig is taken next to Escolta, near the round BPI Building. I know that CATS branch you’re talking about… along Masangkay, right? Most likely it’s a glass and aluminum supply shop now. :D I’ll probably go to San Diego within the next three years.

Oh! No no… not that one, but meron ding nga dun sa Masangkay…

I’m talking about the one in Binondo mismo… man I can’t reemmber the exact street na.. but it’s a street in between Caballeros and Sto. Cristo.. it’s actually a pretty big one… palpak lang ang memory ko >< But yeah it’s on that street… and in-between Lavesares and Clavel…. good lord, I remembered all the streets surrounding it but just NOT that one…-___- And I think that might have been their first store too….

Oh!!!! I knew it looked familiar nga! I went to Escolta often din back then hehe… Did they cleaned, redesigned and reconstructed the area? It’s really nice now, in the pic at least!

Sana you can make it nga! Would love to invite you and your wifey around to stay for a few days at my place afterwards XD Pagalingan tayo magluto.. mwahahaha… : p kdin.. you will own me…

Not sure what you working on, or secret projects brewing.. hopefully aside from local stuff you have stuff from publishers here din, so you can make the trip worth it, promoting stuff : )

Anyway, really looking forward to it!

Btw, one last thing, I think I’ll just ask it here… you have any recommendations on white-outs I can use quickly for sketches that doesn’t break up the lines often? I can’t handle quill on inks like you masters so any particular white-out pen will be good : )
