ELMER at Sketch Magazine #32

A few months ago Sketch Magazine editor Bill Nichols got in touch with me about doing something for the magazine. Since I’m no longer inking and heavily into doing my own stuff, specially ELMER, I proposed the idea of doing an article on how I put together one page of ELMER from writing to laying out, to drawing and lettering.

It was just a proposal I threw out, not really sure if they would want it because ELMER isn’t exactly something many people would have heard of. But surprisingly, they did accept it, and I thought, wow, that’s great!

I wanted to do something much more than a simple article. Since I’m heavily into video, I thought, why not shoot myself while doing a page of ELMER, making a video presentation of how one page is put together? I did something similar with Humanis Rex! last year.

I created a “Creating ELMER” video in two parts, which is for the moment, exclusive to readers of SKETCH Magazine for 2 months, after which I’ll post the link for everyone.

I’ve yet to see the magazine myself but Bill said he already sent a few. Thanks Bill!
